Cash flow statements make me rethink my love for accounting. Why must they be so complicated?

Friday Five

1. What is your favorite shape of pasta?
Bowtie pasta is so cute! Or shell pasta!

2. Which of the Lucky Charms marshmallows is (or was) your favorite? [link provided for our non-U.S. friends]
First of all, Lucky Charms was/is available in Canada as well (sorry, I sometimes find Americans ignorant lol). My favorite marshmallow was always the rainbow. I always saved them for last.

3. Of people you know who are older than forty, who’s in the best shape?
As I sit here and think about my family, I realized none of the 40+ are in shape at all... so I'll have to resort to celebrities. I'm thinking Halle Berry!

4. What shape is one of the more interesting scars on your body?
I only have 2 scars and they aren't any fun shape at all. I fell off my bike when I was 6 and now I have scars on my knees.

5. Of a human’s internal organs, which you think has the most interesting shape?
The ear. It sticks out and has all these convolutions that apparently have a function in collecting sound lol

studying, not so productive?

Within the past 2 weeks, I've been writing midterms and working on various projects & assignments. I've come to realize that as soon I as begin, I find myself becoming distracted by such silly things: bejeweled, my puppies, How I Met Your Mother episodes, and even food. Pretty sure even this blog is a sort of escape from all the items on my to-do list.

Needless to say, I have the attention span of a gold fish, the discipline of a 4-year old, and the stomach of a cow...

I must find a way to stay focussed and motivated.

the link between teaching & learning

What frustrates me at the moment? Teachers that lack the ability to teach ---or maybe not so much the ability, but the sheer desire to actually teach their students valuable information and guide them through the learning process.

Some tips for post-secondary instructors:

If you don't enjoy teaching, don't do it.

If you're just there for the income, don't do it.

If you're not passionate about teaching, don't do it. Especially at the post-secondary level. We paid to be there and we expect you to be passionate about your area of expertise.

Don't just deduct the marks - tell us where you are deducting marks from and WHY. How are we expected to do better the next time around if we aren't told what areas need improvement?

PS, I'm just saying.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.
