studying, not so productive?

Within the past 2 weeks, I've been writing midterms and working on various projects & assignments. I've come to realize that as soon I as begin, I find myself becoming distracted by such silly things: bejeweled, my puppies, How I Met Your Mother episodes, and even food. Pretty sure even this blog is a sort of escape from all the items on my to-do list.

Needless to say, I have the attention span of a gold fish, the discipline of a 4-year old, and the stomach of a cow...

I must find a way to stay focussed and motivated.

the link between teaching & learning

What frustrates me at the moment? Teachers that lack the ability to teach ---or maybe not so much the ability, but the sheer desire to actually teach their students valuable information and guide them through the learning process.

Some tips for post-secondary instructors:

If you don't enjoy teaching, don't do it.

If you're just there for the income, don't do it.

If you're not passionate about teaching, don't do it. Especially at the post-secondary level. We paid to be there and we expect you to be passionate about your area of expertise.

Don't just deduct the marks - tell us where you are deducting marks from and WHY. How are we expected to do better the next time around if we aren't told what areas need improvement?

PS, I'm just saying.

faith - in its simplest form

Faith, in its simplest form.

I saw this online somewhere a couple days ago (can't remember where!). I was so inspired that I set it as my wallpaper.

Waiting on God

Have you ever spent more than an hour in a waiting room? Spent more than an hour in line for something? How did you feel? Has there ever been a “season” in your life where GOD has asked you to wait for Him? Where you’ve felt that God has forgotten you? Overlooked you? Paid more attention to other people?

We all go through a "season of waiting" at some point or another in our lives --there is absolutely nothing wrong with it!

For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won't walk away from you, (Isaiah 54:10 MSG)

Here is some truth I learned last week: During that period of waiting, God is simply preparing you for the next chapter of your life… whether that be the next step in your academic career, the next step in your relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend, the next step in your journey of faith, etc.

Whatever it is that you may be waiting on God for, dwell on God's goodness and remember how faithful He has been to you in the past.
